Background
Beyond the Game. Beyond the Pressure. Changing the Conversation About Athlete Mental Health. Elijah Victor Green knows what it takes to compete at the highest levels of collegiate football. He also knows what it feels like to achieve success on the outside while struggling silently on the inside. The son of 12-year NFL veteran Victor Green, Elijah grew up surrounded by the expectations and demands of elite athletics. His own football journey took him to the University of North Carolina, Indiana University, and Sam Houston State as a Division I running back, ultimately earning him an invitation to the Philadelphia Eagles' rookie minicamp. But Elijah's accomplishments extended well beyond the football field. At UNC's prestigious Kenan-Flagler Business School, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a 3.6 GPA, was named AD Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned ACC Honor Roll recognition, and was a finalist for the Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award. He went on to earn his Master's in Business Management from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. Behind those achievements, however, was a battle that statistics, accolades, and highlight reels could never capture. Throughout his athletic career, Elijah navigated anxiety that challenged his confidence, the devastating loss of his cousin and best friend during the season, and the pressure to continue performing at an elite level while privately struggling with his mental health. Rather than allowing those experiences to define his future, Elijah made them the driving force behind his purpose. As Founder and CEO of The Mind Over Muscle Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Elijah is dedicated to changing how student-athletes understand, discuss, and address mental health. His advocacy is grounded in both lived experience and leadership, including involvement in collegiate mental health initiatives, NCAA oversight committees, and student-athlete leadership efforts. Through keynote presentations, interactive workshops, advocacy, and clinical partnerships, Elijah works to equip athletes, coaches, families, and athletic departments with the awareness, language, resources, and strategies needed to prioritize mental wellness and psychological performance before challenges become crises. Because preparing athletes for the next level means preparing them for more than the next game.
